Julian Pinnick is a freelance artist, illustrator and writer from Nottingham, England. Julian grew up and went to school in West Bridgford, a suburb of Nottingham. Julian still lives in Nottingham with his wife Jaana.
"I was always drawing when I was a kid, I would illustrate my schoolwork, whether it was called for or not". After leaving school he followed his father into the family business. "When I left school in the 1980's there was not much of an emphasis on further education. I had gained an O Level in Art and my teacher wanted me to go on to Art School, but my parents had other ideas".
When the opportunity eventually arrived, Julian studied for a degree in Fine Art at De Montfort University, Leicester, graduating with honours. After this he went on to study for a master’s degree in Creative Writing, passing with a Distinction. Currently he is studying for a PhD. in Creative Writing (thesis title: Mr Turner and the Mad Doctor).
In 2014 Julian was shortlisted for A&I "Artist of the Year" for his painting "Urban Reflection" and has been featured in Artists and illustrators Magazine and The Big Issue.
Julian’s work can be found in public collections including, The R.C. Diocese of Southwark (A Southwark Triptych) and the Chancellor’s collection at De Montfort University (We Are Making A New World I & II).
